With a name like Andretti, expectations are high when you enter the world of racing, and second-generation racer Michael Andretti has been raising the bar as a driver, team owner and businessman throughout his illustrious career.
With an eye on business, Michael stepped out of the car on a full-time basis in 2003 as the most successful driver in American open-wheel competition. Buying into the race team, Michael traded the cockpit for a boardroom and set his drive in a new direction, bringing to life the Andretti Autosport brand in 2009.
Andretti Autosport boasts a wide portfolio rooted in tradition and history and is designed for success. Knowing the importance of striving for excellence and pushing to move from good to great, the Andretti brand raises the bar and sets new standards.
Based in Indianapolis, Indiana, Andretti fields multiple entries in the Verizon IndyCar Series and the Indy Lights presented by Cooper Tires Championship. Also under the Andretti racing umbrella are its Andretti Formula E program competing in the FIA Formula-E Championship, and the back to back Red Bull Global Rallycross championship team Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross.
The organization boasts four IndyCar Series championships, two Indy Lights titles, one Pro Mazda championship, one USF2000 championship and has captured victory at the famed Indianapolis 500 four times. Additionally, the team holds two X Games Gold Medals and two Global Rallycross championships.
The Michael Andretti Foundation was founded in 2003 following Michael’s retirement from full-time professional driving duties. Through donations, sponsorships and fundraising events, this 501(c)(3) foundation distributes funds to qualified non-profit organizations that promote programs for better health, education and welfare of America’s children and citizens.
