ANDRETTI-STEINBRENNER RACING AND NEW YORK YANKEES TO CELEBRATE SEASON-OPENING RACE

Indy Light’s Driver Colton Herta and Andretti-Steinbrenner Racing’s George Michael Steinbrenner IV to join the New York Yankees in celebrating Streets of St. Petersburg Race at Spring Training

Whether on track or on the field, spring is an exciting time in sports with the start of racing and baseball seasons. Though Andretti-Steinbrenner Racing’s Colton Herta has already participated in his own version of Spring Training with the Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tries series, he and Steinbrenner Racing’s team president George Michael Steinbrenner IV will join the New York Yankees in theirs at the March 7 game versus the Tampa Bay Rays.

Taking to the mound at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa to throw the game’s first pitch, Herta will help kick off an afternoon full of motorsport and baseball fun for fans attending the game. Bringing the No. 98 Deltro Energy Mazda, he will compete in that weekend on the Streets of St. Petersburg, fans will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with the young driver and his car when gates open at 11 a.m. ET.

Owned and operated by members of the Steinbrenner family, the New York Yankees spend Spring Training activities at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa located close to Indy Light’s Streets of St. Petersburg circuit. Entering into a partnership this season with Andretti Autosport to form and field the No. 98 Deltro Energy Mazda, the race team is run by George Michael Steinbrenner IV, grandson of legendary Yankees owner George Steinbrenner.

In anticipation of the game, Steinbrenner IV noted excitement for both the game and the season. “I’m really excited about going to the Yankees game and its promotion with Andretti-Steinbrenner Racing. I’m also very excited to work with Colton. I’ve loved racing for a long time, so I’m ready to get into it and watch him grow as a racer and win races.”

Herta agrees with Steinbrenner IV, sharing his excitement for the upcoming appearance, saying, “I’m looking forward to the game. I went two years ago around this time of year and [Steinbrenner Field] is superb. Plus, the Yankees won! It will be a great build up to what should be a great race for the Andretti-Steinbrenner team.”

Fans attending the game will have the opportunity to check out the Andretti-Steinbrenner Racing’s No. 98 Deltro Energy Mazda and meet Herta during a first inning autograph session. The first 250 fans to meet the driver receive two general admission tickets to Friday’s track action ahead of the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.

Herta will take to the streets of St. Petersburg to open the 2017 Indy Lights season at the Mazda Indy Lights Grand Prix of St. Petersburg Presented by Cooper Tires. Green flag drops for the first race of the weekend double-header Saturday, March 11, at 5:10 p.m. ET. The second race is scheduled to start Sunday, March 12, at 9:45 a.m. ET.

The Yankees matchup will be televised on YES Network at 1:05 p.m. ET Tuesday.
