Jean-Éric Vergne tops practice for Andretti

6.27.15

Jean-Eric Vergne topped the times in delayed second free practice at the Battersea Park Formula E finale.

The Andretti driver set a best time of 1m25.351s in the 25-minute session, which was cut from 30 minutes after Turn 1 was reprofiled with TECPRO barriers to make the cars avoid a major bump on the exit of the left-hander.

Championship leader Nelson Piquet Jr was second fastest aboard his China Racing Spark-Renault SRT_01Es with a 1m25.676s, which left him three tenths behind the Frenchman.

Nicolas Prost was third fastest in the best of the e.dams entries on a 2m16.010s.

Dragon Racing’s Jerome d’Ambrosio was fourth fastest, while Lucas di Grassi and Sebastien Buemi, who lie second and third in the championship, rounded out the top six.

Turn 1 was revised after d’Ambrosio’s Dragon entry sustained suspension failure on the bump.

The TECPRO barriers effectively shroud the bump and reduce the track to single file, which means that a yellow flag is permanently displayed at the left-hander.
