VARX Race One Report: LA

SCOTT SPEED, NO. 41 MERCHANT FIRST BEETLE

– The All-American racer finished race one in Los Angeles in the first position, ultimately bumping him into the third spot in the championship points hunt.
– The former Formula 1 driver set the fastest lap in the No. 41 Merchant First Beetle during this weekend’s doubleheader event at the Port of Los Angeles.

“It’s a tough track, it’s super technical honestly, but it’s definitely my favorite so far this season. The crossover jump is a huge addition to Global Rallycross that we all love; so I’m happy to see it make a comeback. There was a lot of strategy that played out in today’s race, obviously that final turned out exactly how we wanted. It feels incredible to walk away with a win and more importantly some solid championship points. Fingers crossed that we can end tomorrow’s race the same way.”

TANNER FOUST, NO. 34 ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK BEETLE
The Rockstar Energy Drink driver finished race one at the Port of Los Angeles in the second position, making this his second podium appearance in the 2015 season thus far.
– The two-time Global Rallycross champion battled his way into the third position during both Heat sessions and semifinal runs around the .702 Los Angeles circuit.

“I kind of got to second place the hard way today, after finishing third in both heat rounds and battling it out in the semifinal. The Rockstar Energy Drink Beetle is a little bruised from all the action, but this puts us into a good position for the final tomorrow. Big thanks to the whole Volkswagen Andretti team, our Beetles are super strong out here in Los Angeles and this is huge for all of us.”
