SCOTT SPEED, NO. 41 KINETIC VISION BEETLE

     – After three DNF’s in the last three races, the All-American racer finished race one in Detroit in the second position.
     – Speed debuted the No. 41 Kinetic Vision Beetle during today’s round 5 of the Red Bull Global Rallycross championship.

“It was a fast paced day, we got a lot of racing done in a short period of time. I was able to come away with a second place finish with a car that is marginally beat up, but the Volkswagen Andretti crew will get it all fixed up and ready for tomorrow’s round.  We have had a lot of bad luck lately, we have had three DNF’s in the last three races which has really hurt our championship, but it was really good to come out here with a solid finish where we are still doing a lot of development on our car. We’re getting better and better every week, so I’m looking forward to fighting for the win in Detroit.”

TANNER FOUST, NO. 34 ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK BEETLE

     – The 42-year-old made contact with another competitor, ultimately ending his run on Belle Isle in the tenth position and with a broken suspension.

     – The Colorado-native looks to regain momentum and secure points towards his championship hunt during round 6 of the Global Rallycross championship.

“It was an intense, very short day, but Global Rallycross pulled it off nicely for the NBC TV window. In the practices, Scott (Speed) and I again showed that the Beetles were quickest. When it came down to some of the Heats and the narrow track, sometimes you would make it through a corner and sometimes you wouldn’t. Unfortunately in the final, I was on the bad end of a side-by-side race with one of Ford and ended up in the grass, putting me virtually in last place after a great start. I made a little bit of an aggressive braking attempt in one of the passing zones and ended up with wheel-to-wheel contact which broke the suspension.”
